While Menzi has preferred to keep his wife out of the spotlight, Sikelelwa had to speak out in defense of her husband in recent months, following rumors that he was in critical condition.
“I would like to confirm that my husband is receiving family support and is recovering after the doctors became concerned about his health. The family is also aware that due to the dissemination of this inaccurate and unverified news, their fans have even sent their messages of their rapid recovery on social networks, generating an unjustified panic on social networks.
“We understand your concerns and support for Menzi, but as a family, we call on South Africans to refrain from spreading news that has not been verified and confirmed by the family,” he said in a statement earlier this year.
Speaking to Drum after the couple’s traditional wedding ceremony in 2018, Menzi said he had found his “diamond.”
“I got my diamond and no one will take it from me. I know the type of woman I marry. I am very grateful to God. I remember when things were not going well for me, I prayed for a kosikazi (a good wife). I didn’t say that I wanted umfazi but unkosikazi, ”Menzi told the publication.
