Arsenal won a close 2-1 victory over West Ham. They may have gotten all three points, but not everyone was impressed in the game.
The Hammers deserved more, but the best teams get the victories even when they have been outmatched and that is what Arsenal did yesterday.
Here’s Arsenal’s player rating.
Bernd Leno – 5
So shaky, he dropped a ball that should have been an easy catch. It did not help calm the nerves of his defenders.
Rob Holding – 5
It wasn’t a good day for Arsenal’s defenders against Antonio and it was one of the bad ones. You should have done better for your goal.
Gabriel Magalhaes – 7
Another solid demonstration of him. He blocked everything he could except the goal. You can easily pass for Arsenal’s best player at night.
Sead Kolasinac – 4
Surprise starter at Kieran Tierney’s injury and did very little in terms of helping the attack. An absolutely terrible cross at the end of the night summed up his night.
Hector Bellerin – 5
He struggled with West Ham’s pace and frankness at the rear and was not of much help going forward.
Dani Ceballos – 5
One of his worst days with the Arsenal shirt. He redeemed himself by providing the assist for the winning goal.
Granit Xhaka – 6
He had a stable but unspectacular influence on the game. Nice pass to free Kolasinac, but his cross was terrible.
Bukayo Saka – 7
Good pass to help Aubameyang score the first goal and another to help Ceballos score the second.
Willian – 5
Poor at night. Arsenal fans will expect such performances to be infrequent.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – 6
West Ham managed to keep him out of dangerous areas and was reduced to trying to groom his teammates. Good center for the first goal.
Alexandre Lacazette – 6
He scored the first major goal, but like most of his fellow attackers, West Ham did not allow him to do much.
Substitutes
Nicolas Pepe – 5
I did nothing more important than to help cut down on time.
Eddie Nketiah – 6
He was hungry for a goal when he came in and got it.
David Luiz – N / A
