The Welsh international striker is back in a familiar environment, with a frustrating period in the Spanish capital closed
Gareth Bale is back in familiar surroundings at Tottenham, and the Welshman is seeing a return on loan to North London that ends a nightmare at Real Madrid.
The 31-year-old left the Spurs in the summer of 2013 as the most expensive player on the planet.
A dreamy start came to life at the Santiago Bernabéu, with the useful habit of scoring in the grand finals.
Bale’s dizzying pace and good eye for goal made him love the Madridistas, with national and continental successes savored in Spain.
It has been one of the most successful British imports of all time, with two La Liga titles, four Champions League crowns and three accumulated Club World Cups with the Royal.
The Welsh international has also surpassed a century of goals for the whites, with 105 in total, but found favor in a shortage of Zinedine Zidane.
Only 20 appearances were recorded during the 2019-20 campaign, as transfer speculations mounted and questions were raised about his commitment to Real, amid allegations of playing too much golf.
However, Bale is now back in the Premier League and ready to rekindle a lost spark, with Spurs handing him his number 9 jersey.

José Mourinho, who once tried to secure his signature when in charge of Madrid, has won the race for a proven player at the highest level and hopes to see him make an immediate impact.
Bale thinks he’s ready to do that, once he’s fully fit again, and has told him Tottenham in-house television station: “It’s nice to be back. It’s such a special club to me, it’s where I made a name for myself. Amazing fans and it’s amazing to be back. Hopefully now I can get in shape and get going and win trophies.
“When I left, I always thought that one day I would love to come back and now the opportunity has arisen and I feel like it is a good fit. I feel like it’s a good time for me, I’m hungry, I’m motivated, I want to do well for the team and I can’t wait to start.
“I think that by going to Madrid and winning trophies and going far with the national team, I feel like I have that winning mentality: how to win trophies.
“You don’t realize until you are in those situations, in the finals, how to deal with the situation, the nerves, the pressure, and everything goes with the experience. Hopefully I can bring that to the dressing room, a little more so that everyone believes that we can win a trophy. I want to bring that mentality back to Tottenham.
“Since I left the club it has grown, the stadium is incredible, the training ground is even better since the last time I was here. It is an exciting time for everyone here. I want to contribute to that again and take us to the next level, which is to win trophies. “
The Spurs are looking for inspiration somewhere, missing a top-four finish and a huge silver medal last season, and have sought to offer much-needed support to talisman forward Harry Kane.
During his previous stint at White Hart Lane, Bale scored 55 goals in 203 appearances, garnering two PFA Player of the Year awards in the process and putting himself in a position where Real were so desperate to sign him.
That relationship eventually turned sour, but Tottenham fans will accept him as a returning hero, who suddenly saw their summer transfer window come to life.
