JOHANNESBURG – The Department of Public Companies said it will continue to assess the interest of private sector companies in forming a restructured South African Airways (SAA).
On Friday, the department recommitted to prioritizing the completion of the business rescue plan.
He said the settlement is not on the table.
The government missed the deadline this week to secure the R10.4 billion needed for the restructuring process.
The Numsa and Sacca unions gave the government a week to secure funding.
The department said it received 20 expressions of interest from private sector donors, private equity investors and partners for a restructured SAA.

They also want SAA to return to heaven as the dominant carrier as soon as possible.
Sacca and Numsa recognized the government’s commitment but threatened to protest next week if their demands are not met.
