Respected French journalist Julien Laurens says Arsenal will make a move for Lyon star Houssem Aouar soon.
The Frenchman is a reliable source of transfer information and made the claim on an ESPN podcast.
Arsenal are in the middle of rebuilding their team and have made some interesting signings so far.
They have landed Gabriel Magalhaes and Willian. A midfielder is believed to be next on his agenda and Aouar is one of his main targets.
The 22-year-old became one of Europe’s most sought-after midfielders this summer after helping Lyon reach the final semi-final of the Champions League.
He has interest from various teams, but Arsenal are pushing to complete a move for him.
Laurens believes that Mikel Arteta’s side will make an imminent move for him, and he unveiled it on the podcast.
He also added to the claims that the Gunners are looking to sell Lucas Torreira and said that when they sell him, they will turn to Aouar.
He said: “I think Arsenal are preparing a deal, an offer for Aouar once they sell Lucas Torreira, probably Torino, after Emi Martínez left for Villa. I think that Arsenal will offer something to Lyon for Aouar and this could happen ”. [‘Gabs & Jul’ ESPN Podcast]
“I think the idea is to go 4-3-3 anyway at some point and then Aouar could play in midfield. Aouar can play 3-4-3, in both in midfield, he runs a lot although he doesn’t have the defensive mentality ”. Added.
