JOHANNESBURG – Cooperative Governance Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma said more people are now allowed to attend funerals and public events, but South Africans still need to be careful and not complacent.
Dlamini-Zuma spoke during a coronavirus national command council briefing on Friday afternoon, where he outlined the guidelines for level one lockdown.
This comes after President Cyril Ramaphosa’s announcement that regulations will be relaxed on Sunday at midnight.
The minister said there were also new restrictions on religious gatherings.
“No matter how big the place is, the maximum inside the place is 250. But if the place is too small to accommodate 250 people at 1.5 meters, then it must be less. It must be half the size of that place. “
She said no more than 500 people are allowed in outside venues.
With regard to travel, visitors from countries with high infection rates will not be able to enter the country.
“On other international trips, there will be a schedule of countries where infections are high who will not be temporarily allowed until such time as their infections are under control.”
In addition to this, only three main airports will be operating, OR Tambo and King Shaka.
The country’s ports are open to cargo, but passenger ships are not allowed.
