The South Africans had a field day on social media Friday following videos of a car chase between the South African Police Service Tactical Response Team helicopter, Ford ST, a motorcycle and a white Nissan 1400.
The incident reportedly took place in Soshanguve along the R80 road in the early hours of Thursday morning.
The car chase has given South Africans something to talk about, with some arguing that the Nissan 1400 gave police a run for their money, while others argued that the police were being cautious.
Like in the movies….
Criminals are everywhere
Well done to the @SAPoliceService in relentless pursuit.
Always be aware of your surroundings, fleeing criminals will drive recklessly in their attempts to escape. https://t.co/s6AfThfgdo– GTP Gauteng Traffic Police (@GTP_Traffstats) September 18, 2020
The driver eventually lost control of the vehicle and pulled to the side of the road, likely after SAPS targeted the Nissan’s tires. He can then be seen slowly getting out of the vehicle, surrounded by armed officers.
The chase continues for some time before the driver loses control of the car and comes to a halt on the side of the road while the officer on the motorcycle continues to fire at the car.
Police spokesman Kay Makhubele was not available for comment.

In another incident on Thursday morning, two men suspected of being behind a string of kidnappings in Gauteng were shot dead, while two of their accomplices were wounded after a shootout with police in Centurion, Tshwane.
Two policemen were also shot and flown to the hospital.
“Members of the Gauteng Specific Crimes Trio Team had been following and closely observing the suspects when they saw the suspects in Centurion driving a black BMW 135i. The police intercepted the suspects’ vehicle and the suspects allegedly began shooting at the police, who then returned fire. Two suspects died while the other two were taken to the hospital under police surveillance, ”SAPS said in a statement.
Police confiscated two rifles and a pistol, as well as the suspect’s vehicle, which has since been confirmed to have been hijacked in Honeydew, Johannesburg, in July this year.
The suspects will be charged with attempted murder, possession of firearms and ammunition without a license and possession of a hijacked vehicle. More charges may be added pending further investigation.
Gauteng Police Commissioner Lt. General Elias Mawela praised the tireless efforts of the investigation team who continue to work hard to decrease the volume of kidnappings where victims are often violently injured or killed. At the same time, General Mawela also issued a stern warning to criminals that the police will intensify efforts to ensure that the space in which they operate is kept to a minimum.
Mawela has wished the injured members a speedy recovery.

If a Nissan 1400 can do that with the SAPS Ford ST and Motorebike, including a helicopter, imagine what a UNO can cause … pic.twitter.com/snWzDRUN9W
