Liverpool have asked Watford about a possible transfer of Ismaila Sarr after being considered by Jurgen Klopp as a backup option for the club’s three pedigree forwards, claims Dominic King of The mail.

The championship club wants to keep Sarr’s services in their bid to return to the Premier League, but Watford has made it clear to Liverpool that they could be swayed if the asking price is reached.

According to The Mirror, Watford will demand at least £ 40 million for the Senegalese ace.

Liverpool has been hyped with a move for the 22-year-old sprinter since Sarr tore apart the Reds during a 3-0 win in February that ended the Reds’ 13-month unbeaten streak in the Premier League.

Klopp is an admirer of Sarr, but Liverpool have yet to submit an official offer or make an official contact despite the club reportedly watching the player’s development with great interest.

The news comes shortly after Liverpool reached an agreement with Bayern Munich regarding the signing of Thiago Alcántara.

The Times reports that an initial fee of £ 20 million has been agreed, plus an additional £ 5 million tied to bonuses.

Even though Liverpool are on the cusp of signing one of the best midfielders in world football, Klopp is reportedly determined to add a couple more faces to his Premier League winning team.

According to The Athletic, the Liverpool manager would like to see one or two more signings at the club if they can remove some players from the current salary bill at Anfield.

This could spark a move for Sarr and sporting director Michael Edwards could capitalize on the fact that Watford was forced to sell Abdoulaye Doucoure (£ 25 million) and Pervis Estupinan (£ 15 million) cheaper than their original valuations.

There is still a long way to go in the transfer window, but as Thiago’s negotiations have shown, events can move quickly once Liverpool start moving.
