JOHANNESBURG – The four people charged with abducting a six-year-old girl in Vanderbijlpark have now pleaded guilty in Palm Ridge Superior Court.
The mastermind behind the girl’s kidnapping last year is a former teacher and friend of the girl’s mother.
The kidnappers tried to obtain a R2 million ransom from the parents, but failed.
The Palm Ridge Superior Court has heard how all four defendants have officially pleaded guilty to charges ranging from kidnapping to attempted extortion.
Tharina Human has confessed to abducting the six-year-old girl in September last year and threatening her father.
Human told the girl’s parents that they would hurt her if they didn’t pay the R2 million.
He later confessed that he owed money to drug traffickers.
During the bail bid, the court also heard that he even considered faking his own kidnapping to get the money.
However, the transaction never materialized and the girl was left by the road in the early hours of the morning.
