Prince Harry had his closed around him on his 36th birthday which is celebrated today (Tuesday).
The Duke of Sussex decided to celebrate his day in a very special way, together with his better half Meghan Markle.
The two decided to make a very generous donation to a non-profit organization called CAMFED, which aims to alleviate poverty in Africa through education and the empowerment of women.
The donation was announced by the Sussexes spokesperson.
Meanwhile, there has been an ongoing online campaign to raise money for the organization as a way to honor Meghan and Harry’s birthdays this year.
Large numbers of people came together to do their part for the noble cause, and the donation amount totaled $ 129,000.
They made a personal donation of $ 130.00 to show their own support for the cause.
Along with their contribution, the couple shared a message saying, “’There is no better way to celebrate what really matters. Thanks to everyone who donated, Harry and Meghan. “
In an earlier panel discussion, Meghan participated alongside CAMFED Executive Director Angie Murimirwa for International Women’s Day last year.
“[Meghan’s] a longtime advocate for women’s rights, equality and equal opportunity, and it’s really exciting that she’s doing it alongside other women who are in the education space on International Women’s Day. ” Murimirwa said at the time.
