President Donald Trump, in his latest shredding of political niceties, suggested Tuesday that his Democratic opponent Joe Biden has taken drugs to enhance his performance in debates.

The Republican, who is far behind in the polls, initially hinted during a Fox News interview that “something was odd” with what he saw as Biden’s improvement during the Democratic primary season debates.

At first, when there were multiple Democratic candidates lined up on stage, Biden was “a mess” and “extremely incompetent,” Trump said. But in a subsequent debate in which Biden was face to face with his leftist rival Bernie Sanders, “he was fine.”

Trump told Fox he did not want to say what he believed was the reason for the improvement.

Seconds later, it did.

“He’s having something or you know, it gives him some clarity, or whatever,” he said.

Trump reiterated his demand that Biden take a drug test before the first of three presidential debates scheduled for September 29.

“I’d take one too,” he said.

Trump, 74, has been trying for months to persuade voters that Biden, 77, is mentally impaired.

The former businessman cites Biden’s penchant for gaffes, which some believe are linked to the Democrat’s lifelong struggle with stuttering, and his reluctance to face unanticipated questioning from journalists.

Trump, who answers journalists’ questions almost daily but is known for his own confusing and confusing statements, said: “Joe is lost. We can’t have a mentally lost president.”

Trump told Fox that, with the attacks from the Democratic side gaining intensity, he will now “take off his gloves.”
