Alleged Mastermind of Amy’Leigh de Jager kidnapping enters plea deal

JOHANNESBURG – The lawyer for the alleged mastermind of the abduction of six-year-old Amy’Leigh De Jager said Tuesday that Tharina Human reached a plea deal with the state.

Human made a brief appearance in Palm Ridge Magistrates Court early Tuesday, along with his three co-defendants, Pieter van Zyl, Bofokeng Molemohi and Laetitia Nel.

Last year, De Jager was kidnapped from her mother’s car in front of her Vanderbijlpark school.

She was held hostage for 19 hours before being abandoned near an informal settlement.

Human’s attorney, David Mey: “The matter was ready for trial this entire week and towards the end of last week, I signed a plea and sentencing agreement with the State. We reached a plea agreement and Judgment. When we arrive at the Court, [the lawyer] On behalf of defendant number two, he indicated that he is also willing to plead guilty ”.

The kidnappers demanded a ransom of R2 million from De Jager’s parents, but the money was never released.
