COVID-19 in South Africa: at least 20 more deaths reported

JOHANNESBURG – At least 20 people have died from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.

KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape have reported four deaths each, while six deaths have been reported in Gauteng and the Western Cape.

This brings the total number of coronavirus-related deaths in the country to 15,447.

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in South Africa now stands at 649,793 after 1,579 new cases were reported in the last hour.

While the number of recoveries is 577,906, which translates to a recovery rate of 88.9 percent.
