The utility player will practice his trade in Europe for the next two seasons with green and white
Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Lorenzo Gordinho has secured a transfer to Denmark after signing for Viborg FF.
According to the club, Gordinho signed a two-year contract with Viborg just days after parting ways with the now-defunct Bidvest Wits.
In a statement released by Viborg, coach Jesper Fredberg is excited by the arrival of Gordinho, who feel that he brings something different to what they already have in the squad.
Fredberg is happy that they have a very professional, fast and strong player and is confident in their experience, saying that PSL are at a much higher level than the Danish first division.
“With Lorenzo, we have a different type of defense than we already have in the squad. He is fast, he is in a strong duel and then he comes from a league of a higher level than ours, where he has played many games,” said Fredberg.
“He is a top-notch professional player who is fit and we hope that he can come in and get stronger right away.”
The 26-year-old former center-back Amakhosi and Bloemfontein Celtic expressed his joy at joining Viborg, and hopes to play an important role in helping the club gain promotion to the Super League during their two-year stay.
“I am very excited and looking forward to the challenge here at Viborg,” Gordinho said.
“It is a club with ambitions and I have a very good impression of everything.
“It is an exciting project with many young players and an offensive style of play, which I hope to be a part of.
“We all hope that we can achieve promotion to the Super League, and I will do everything possible to contribute to that.”
Lorenzo brings with him a lot of experience having played for three different teams on the PSL in Amakhosi, Bloemfontein Celtic and Wits.
He is also an absolute international with Bafana Bafana with three caps to his credit.
Last season Gordinho, who joined Estudiantes de Chiefs, made 23 appearances in all competitions and found the back of the net once.
