Springbok superstar Cheslin Kolbe proved that the pandemic has done little to hamper his remarkable rugby talents by opening La Rochelle in a Top 14 roller coaster match today.
On his second attempt of the match, Kolbe caught the ball down the right wing in a play that to all eyes seemed to have been shut down by the La Rochelle defense. However, Kolbe broke into a tight inside line, with three steps with his right foot opening a confusing route to the try line.

The try propelled Toulouse to a 39-23 victory over their yellow and black rivals, although Stade Toulouse still hovering around the middle of the competition table.
The magical footwork is very much the Kolbe the Springboks hope to unleash against the British and Irish Lions in 2021, a tour the winger wants to be a part of. Kolbe has called next year’s Lions tour of South Africa an “incredible” event.
“I saw it in 2009 and ever since I thought to myself that I definitely want to be a part of it,” Kolbe said.
“See the atmosphere, the way the stadiums were packed, the amount of time [that] It is reversed when the British and Irish Lions arrive, it’s amazing. It is a team that I want to be part of and play in those three tests ”.
The 2019 World Rugby Player of the Year nominee pointed to the moment Morne Steyn kicked the Springboks to a series win at Loftus Versfeld during the second test as a particular highlight of the tour 11 years ago.
“Morne Steyn, playing at Loftus, knew the stadium and took that penalty from beyond the midline,” he said.
“The moment with all the green jerseys on their feet and they went crazy for the winning points. That was one of the highlights. “
