Brutal opinion of Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Diogo Dalot with possibility of transfer | Soccer Sport

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a negative view of Diogo Dalot, according to reports. The Portugal international was touted as Gary Neville’s long-term heir when he moved to Old Trafford from Porto in the 2018 transfer window. However, he struggled last season and appears to be behind Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Tim Fosu-Mensah and Brandon Williams in the pecking order.

Dalot joined United from Porto in 2018 and was immediately proposed by José Mourinho to become Neville’s heir.

The current Tottenham manager said at the time: “Everyone knows he has fantastic potential.

“I don’t want to compare, especially the number of titles, but he’s probably the same age as Gary Neville when he entered the first team.

“I can probably follow Neville in this dynamic of more than 10 years as a United right-back, with incredible conditions to improve, because as I said he is 19 years old.”

Dalot has struggled for minutes at United since Solskjaer’s appointment, however, leading to talk that he may be on the verge of leaving Old Trafford behind.

And Athletic says that Solskjaer has a brutal point of view on the right back.

Meanwhile, in other United transfer news, the club still hopes to add Jadon Sancho and Dayot Upamecano, both of whom are of interest, to its squad.

And Solskjaer recently opened up to possible business, saying: “I never set a goal for myself, like scoring 20 goals as a player.

“You just have to go day by day, making sure to develop and improve.

“We have a vision of where we want to go, but we know that a lot can come up along the way. I believe in seeing the team and the club develop.”

“We are developing the team, a year or so after our rebuilding. We had to make some decisions last summer and during the season we have seen how this team is improving and getting used to each other.”

Then he added: “We are looking forward to him, but he has recovered very quickly since last season.

“The preparation is very different from what we normally have and we have to take our Europa League games as preseason.

“I’d rather be optimistic and wrong than pessimistic and right. I thought we would qualify for the Champions League, but I also expected a trophy along the way.”

“It is never easy to have too many new players on the team, it takes time for the players to form a unit.

“We have seen some clubs go for a quick fix and some trust the process. We have to improve and obtain results but adding players with different qualities to those we have ”.
