MotoGP is gearing up for nine frantic races in the space of 11 weeks to finish the redesigned 2020 calendar, with Misano hosting a double title over the next two weeks.
After a couple of tough races in Austria, the Yamaha riders have returned to the front with Fabio Quartararo leading Friday’s practice ahead of his Petronas SRT Yamaha teammate Franco Morbidelli.
Despite leading Friday’s practice sessions, Quartararo admitted that he has not yet fully rediscovered his feeling of conquest with his Yamaha that resulted in his double win at Jerez.
But like previous seasons, the circuit seems to adapt to the M1, even with the recent makeover, with the factory duo Maverick Vinales and Valentino Rossi also leading the way, while the Spaniard led FP1.
After the dramatic end of the Styrian GP, Pol Espargaró hopes to stay in the fight for the podium having finished FP2 third fastest for KTM less than two tenths ahead of rookie Tech3 KTM rider Iker Lecuona whose pace “surprised” Espargaró.
Behind Yamahas and KTM, Danilo Petrucci led the Ducati charge with seventh place in the afternoon session ahead of Brno winner Brad Binder (KTM) and Styrian GP winner Miguel Oliveira (Tech3 KTM).
What time does the Misano MotoGP qualifying start?
Qualifying for the Misano MotoGP is scheduled to start at 2:10 pm local time (1:10 pm BST), using the usual Q1 and Q2 session format. Qualifying takes place directly after the 30-minute FP4 session, which will begin at 1:30 pm local time (12:30 pm BST).
The 10 fastest MotoGP riders on the FP1-2-3 combined timesheet automatically head to Q2, with the rest of the riders entering Q1 of qualifying. The two fastest riders in the 15-minute Q1 session will advance to Q2 to compete with the top 10 in practice. Q2, which also lasts 15 minutes, decides who gets pole position and the qualifying order for the first four rows of the grid.
