‘Nobody has called me, nothing happens’

Former Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt will receive local offers as he is out of work after the season ends.

Hunt’s season with Wits came to an end last weekend when the Premiership season ended and he has been heavily tied to the job vacancy at Kaizer Chiefs.

When asked if the Chiefs have reached out to him that they have fired coach Ernst Middendorp and his assistant Shaun Bartlett, Hunt said nothing is happening right now.

“No one has called me, nothing is wrong,” he told TimesLIVE on Thursday morning.

Although he claims he has not been contacted, Hunt said he is open to speaking with anyone who is interested in his services.

“I need to work because this is my life. It is difficult because it is the first time in 30 years that I have nothing to do with my life.

“Under normal circumstances, I will be planning the preseason and I will be busy on the phone with players and things like that.

“But it is what it is and we’ll see what happens.”

Hunt is available because the Wits have sold his estate to Tshakuma Tsha Madzivhandila.
