The 2020/21 Premier League season kicks off on Saturday when newly promoted Fulham host Arsenal at 12:30 pm.
A national action-packed weekend will then be played out with defending champion Liverpool welcoming the championship winners Leeds United at Anfield at 5.30pm before Everton host Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
The campaign will begin on September 12 after the Coronavirus pandemic delayed procedures last period, which then had repercussions on when preseason could take place before the next season started.
It means that the transfer window is also not scheduled to close before the new campaign begins, as it has in the previous two terms, and teams will have until October 5 to rectify any initial problems.
In the meantime, fans will not be allowed to attend at least the first few games of the season, as the government and the Premier League ensure that the return of fans is safe and the spread of the virus contained.
Anyway, the most important thing is that football is back.
Leeds, West Bromwich Albion and Fulham were promoted from the Championship and have set an early intention to remain in the Premier League by bringing in a large number of players to bolster their squads.
Everton seems to have carried out some of the best window deals by signing Real Madrid’s James Rodríguez, Watford’s Abdoulaye Doucoure and Napoli’s Allan, while Liverpool signed a substitute for left-back Andy Robertson in Olympiacos’ Kostas Tsimikas. .
And here, the ECHO writers make their Premier League predictions for the upcoming season.

Winners: Liverpool
Top four: Liverpool, Man City, Chelsea, Man United
Surprise package: Newcastle
Relegation: West Brom, Fulham, Aston Villa
Top scorer: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
PFA Player of the Year: Kevin De Bruyne
This season we’ll see … Leeds United starts off brilliantly before fading into the second half of the season. Another excellent season for Sheffield United and Chris Wilder’s Liverpool, once again proving that they are the best dogs, even allowing a closer title race than last season.
Adam Jones
Winners: Man City
Top four: Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United
Surprise package: Everton
Relegation: Aston Villa, Fulham, West Brom
Top scorer: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
PFA Player of the Year: Christian Pulisic
This season we will see … A much closer race for the title to begin with. And hopefully we’ll see Everton contesting European places and a trophy.
Ian doyle
Winners: Man City
Top four: Man City, Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea
Surprise package: Leeds United
Relegation: Fulham, West Bromwich Albion, Aston Villa
Top scorer: Timo Werner
PFA Player of the Year: Thiago … well, if he joins someone in the Premier League. Otherwise, Marcus Rashford.
This season we will see … that most of the new uniforms are actually pretty rubbish and having 500 fans inside a stadium is infinitely better than having none.
Sam Carroll
Winners: Liverpool. Despite all the talk about transfers and burnout, I can’t see past a team that finished 18 points ahead at the top less than two months ago. However, expect Manchester City, Chelsea and even Manchester United to run a much closer race this time.
The first four: Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, Manchester United. On paper, they have the best four squads, and the highest salary bills, in the division. Chelsea especially has pressure on her shoulders to compete after a summer with big spending.
Surprise package: Everton. Okay, maybe defining Everton as a ‘surprise package’ when Carlo Ancelotti is their coach and James Rodríguez has just been signed is cheating. But you have to remember that this is a team that finished in the bottom half last season. Inspired by Ancelotti, anything is possible.
Decline: Fulham, West Bromwich Albion, West Ham United. Poor David Moyes. But a rocky start to the season for the Hammers could leave them in real trouble at Christmas.
Top scorer: Harry Kane. I have the feeling that he will score a lot of goals this season. Or did I just see the new Tottenham Hotspur documentary?
PFA Player of the Year: Kevin de Bruyne. Who else? He’s in the prime of his career and sometimes he just can’t play.
This season we will see … Many management changes. Three or four before Christmas. We will (hopefully) have the return of the fans and a surprise FA Cup or EFL Cup winner.

Winners: Manchester City
Top four: Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United
Surprise package: Newcastle United
Relegation: Aston Villa, West Ham, Fulham
Top scorer: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
PFA Player of the Year: Trent Alexander-Arnold
This season we will see … a much tighter title race as Liverpool come up short, Everton return to the European contest and hopefully some stadiums packed with fans at some point!
Caoimhe O’Neill
Winners: Liverpool
Top four: Liverpool, Man City, Chelsea, Man United
Surprise package: Newcastle United
Relegation: Aston Villa, West Brom, Fulham
Top scorer: Sadio Mane
PFA Player of the Year: Sadio Mane
This season we will see … Liverpool will not enjoy so much point difference with their rivals this time around. Man City will make the race fierce with Chelsea also betting a similar claim to Leicester’s last term. Expect the Reds to walk away in April and win by nine points.

Winners: Liverpool
The top four: Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, Manchester United.
Surprise package: Everton
Relegation: Fulham, West Bromwich Albion, Aston Villa.
Top Scorer: Harry Kane (if he stays fit)
PFA Player of the Year: Bruno Fernandes
This season we’ll see … Fans back in the Premier League stadiums at some point, please if it’s safe. It was one thing to have to limp to the finish line to complete the 2019/20 campaign, but the prospect of a full season with no spectators is heartbreaking for the game as a show and for match fans whose social lives are based on the entire experience.
Sean Bradbury
Winners: Man City, just …
Top four: City, Liverpool, United, Chelsea
Surprise package: Everton have shown some cruelty with the delay in their midfield review. They should be able to give anyone a game if new signings click. I like them for some decent scalps and a European place
Relegation: Fulham, Aston Villa, West Brom
Top scorer: Mohamed Salah
PFA Player of the Year: Kevin De Bruyne again
This season we’ll see … Man City rebound and narrowly seal the title ahead of Liverpool, with United and Chelsea closing the gap from behind. The Reds will once again prosper in Europe and claim the Champions League
Peter harris
Winners: Liverpool
Top four: Liverpool, Man City, Chelsea, Man Utd
Surprise package: Everton. It will come as a surprise to everyone except Blues fans how well the new signings adapt to Ancelotti’s new look.
Relegation: West Brom, Fulham, Crystal Palace
Top scorer: Timo Werner
PFA Player of the Year: Sadio Mane
This season we will see … A much closer affair across the board, including the title, European places and relegation. At least one side will blame or praise the return of fans for a turn of luck perhaps mid-season.
Joe rimmer
Winners: Liverpool
Top four: Liverpool, Man City, Chelsea, Man Utd
Surprise package: Southampton. They finished well last season and seem to be well established with Ralph Hassenhuttl.
Relegation: Fulham, West Brom, Aston Villa
Top scorer: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
PFA Player of the Year: Virgil van Dijk
This season we will see … Layoffs. And many of them. Leeds to start strong before getting into trouble. Sheffield United to fight the fall. Chelsea to concede many goals. Fulham to be rubbish. José Mourinho will leave the Spurs.
