John Barnes doesn’t think Gareth Bale would fit in at Tottenham Hotspur with head coach José Mourinho, but he thinks the Real Madrid winger would be a good signing for Manchester United, as quoted in Bonus Code Bets.
The former Liverpool star does not think Manchester City want to sign Bale despite the fact that he is best suited to play for Pep Guardiola’s team.
Interestingly, Bale has been linked with a return to Spurs, and Marca recently reported that Tottenham head coach José Mourinho would love to have the 31-year-old on his team.
However, according to the report in the Spanish publication, the north London club cannot pay Bale due to his salary and Madrid also demand a transfer fee.
Barnes said in Bonus Code Bets: “Tottenham Hotspur is a club he has played for before, but he is the type of player that José Mourinho wants, I don’t think so.
“Manchester United is probably the best club for him, but it is if they want him despite his age and the salary he comes with.”
Summer transfer to Manchester United?
Bale has fallen into Madrid’s pecking order and has also had injury issues, and it’s hard to see the Welshman play a big role for The whites next season.
The former Spurs star remains one of the scariest players in the world, and the 31-year-old would make United a better team in attack.
However, it remains to be seen whether United really expresses interest in bringing Bale back to England.
