- Police said a firearm cartridge was also recovered from the scene and the possibility of a shot being fired will be investigated.

Police are investigating a shooting during an EFF protest near Clicks at Norkem Corner Mall in Kempton Park on Thursday.
Police spokesman Brig. Mathapelo Peters said Norkem Park police responded to the incident at the Mooi River Road shopping center when an EFF protester was allegedly assaulted by security personnel at the shopping center.

“It was reported that a fight broke out between protesters and mall security when security tried to get the protesters to leave the mall,” Peters added.
“The police will investigate allegations that a shot was fired during the fight over a spent cartridge that was recovered from the scene.”
No injuries were reported and there were no arrests, pending further investigation.
A video of the altercation shows a group of people being cornered outside the mall by police and security guards. Near the entrance, a man is seen lying on the ground as someone approaches her. A shot is heard and people start screaming and running.
