William Saliba is set to make his first start at Arsenal on the first day of the season against Fulham, says Sun Sports.
The 19-year-old arrived at Arsenal from Saint Etienne last summer, but was allowed to remain on loan with the French team for the rest of last season.
He has now returned to Arsenal and is expected to be a key member of the team for next season.
Usually a player is given time to get used to how his new team plays, but it looks like Saliba will jump straight into action when the Premier League kicks off this weekend.
This is because David Luiz is likely to miss Arsenal’s opener against Fulham.
The Brazilian injured his neck in Community Shield’s game against Liverpool last month, exacerbating the injury in training.
While Mikel Arteta could put the Brazilian at risk, the report states that Saliba is likely to start if the manager decides otherwise.
Arsenal have worked very hard to be fit for the new season. Their goal is to finish in the top four and they will be eager to start with a win at Craven Cottage.
