He said the blocking regulations imposed in terms of the national disaster stipulate that all international travel is prohibited except in exceptional cases and only if approval was obtained beforehand.
“On top of that, an unauthorized military aircraft is being used to transport members of the ANC party to Zimbabwe for party political reasons. This is nothing more than the blatant misuse of tax money and corruption. The ANC must reimburse the costs,“Said Groenewald.
He said that he would file a formal complaint with the office of the public protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane and request that the “ANC misuse of tax money should be investigated”.
Groenewald further promised that he would raise parliamentary questions about whether approval for the visit was granted.
Defense spokesman Siphiwe Dlamini said in a statement that the ANC meeting in Zimbabwe had coincided with a meeting of Defense Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula.
“[Mapisa-Nqakula] He was traveling to Zimbabwe to meet with his counterpart in preparation for a meeting of the Troika Sadc and the reconfiguration of the UN Intervention Force, which comprises troops from the Sadc region.
“The ANC delegation was going to address issues that are having a direct impact on South Africa. This is not a common occurrence and has never happened before,Dlamini said.
