Microsoft has Announced that the Xbox Series S will be available to South African customers for a suggested retail price of R6,999.
This follows Microsoft confirming yesterday that the Xbox Series S would be launched in South Africa.
The Xbox Series S is the more affordable of Microsoft’s two next-generation Xbox consoles.
The “smallest Xbox” offers significantly lower graphics performance than X Series – 4TFLOPS as opposed to X Series 12TFLOPS.
The S Series is also believed to offer 7.5GB of usable memory compared to the X Series’ 13.5GB, and it will also only include 512GB of storage as opposed to the 1TB option available with the X Series.
Perhaps most important to gamers, however, is the fact that the S Series will not allow gamers to play the latest games in 4K with high frame rates, which means they will have to settle for a maximum of 1440p.
By contrast, the X Series specs mean that it will be able to support 4K gaming with relative ease.
However, it is worth noting that all games for this next-gen console range will be playable on both consoles.
Also, there is a big price difference between the S Series and the X Series, which means that many players may choose to save money by buying the former.
While the South African price for Series X is not yet available, the US price for both consoles gives a good indication of the gap between the prices of these two consoles, and is as follows:
- Xbox Series S – $ 299
- Xbox Series X – $ 499
