Man turns himself in to police for the death of a boy who was shot in the head during a shooting between gangs

A second arrest was made in connection with the death of 10-year-old Nahemiah Claassen, who was shot in the head when caught in the crossfire during a gang shooting on the Cape Flats on Monday.

According to Colonel Andrè Traut, a police spokesman, the 28-year-old man turned himself in to the police.

Once charged, you will appear in court on a murder charge. Another person, 22, is scheduled to appear in Wynberg Magistrates Court in connection with Wednesday’s incident.

Claassen, a sixth-grade student at Parkwood Elementary School, was rushed to the Red Cross Children’s Hospital.

Community worker and activist Rashaad Allen told the African News Agency that the incident occurred when a member of the Mongrels gang wanted to shoot a member of the Six Bob gang.

“While the shooting was going on, everyone was running for cover. The Six Bob was standing five feet behind a [street light] pole.

“Nahemiah was also running home, but was shot in the head about a meter from his house,” Allen said.
