Is this the reason why the Jadon Sancho deal has dragged on?

An interesting explanation has been given for Manchester United’s delay in signing Jadon Sancho.

Journalist Ian McGarry told the Transfer Window podcast that Sancho was simply waiting for a contract bond to be approved.

McGarry said: “We understand that Jadon Sancho’s bonus is double on his contract with Borussia Dortmund that he signed last summer.

“The one-year completion of that contract will earn him 1.5 million euros net, and a bonus if he plays 10 more internationals for England, which of course started against Iceland and reached his 11th international.

“That is the trigger that Sancho and his representatives and his family have been waiting for in order to collect that bonus.

“United are very comfortable with their position, they think they have a deal with the player and with Dortmund.

“And it is our information that they have been waiting for, until these payments were due to the player, his representatives and relatives.”

This sounds like a logical explanation

There has been a gap in information about the delay of Sancho’s play, which has lasted all year.

The Telegraph reported in March that United were leading the race for the Dortmund winger.

However, United has, at first glance, made little progress on a deal, with Dortmund publicly insisting that the player is not for sale, via The Mail.

Gary Neville even told The Mail this week that United should consider abandoning the club’s search for Sancho, because it has dragged on for so long without a resolution.

The explanation for the delay in the move dovetails with ESPN’s claims that agent fees have delayed the deal.

The transfer deadline is less than a month away and United fans are understandably impatient and eager for a big move to be made.

BILD previously reported that Dortmund is seeking £ 108 million, but would agree to installment payments over three years.

United have made a signing so far this summer, Dutch international Donny van de Beek.

If this information turns out to be accurate we will see it in the days and weeks to come, but it sounds encouraging and this summer could still end with United achieving the club’s primary goal.

Jadon Sancho: Why Manchester United want it

  1. Sancho had a prolific 2019/20 season

Sancho finished the season with 20 goals and 18 assists, finishing as Dortmund’s top scorer.

  2. Creative Star Setting Attendance Records

Sancho provided 16 assists in the Bundesliga this season. This was the most recorded by a Dortmund player since 2004/05.

  3. Sancho became the youngest player in the Bundesliga to score 15 goals

He set this record in his first season, breaking a record that had been held since 1967.

  4. Sancho adds 34 goals in the first team with Dortmund

That’s more goals at the age of 20 than Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi had scored in their careers.

  5. Get better as the games progress

14 of Sancho’s 17 goals in the Bundesliga this season were scored in the second half of matches, as he wore down opponents, along with 12 of his assists.
