Quinton Fortune named first team coach at Reading

Former Bafana Bafana midfielder Quinton fortune will assume the position of coach of the first team in Reading football club.

Fortune moves to Reading from Manchester United, where he was an assistant coach for the U23 team.

Reading has appointed Fortune, as well as Nuno Gomes, in a personnel change under new manager Veljko Paunovic.

Fortune, who played for Manchester United for seven years with Sir Alex Ferguson, was Paunovic’s former teammate at Atlético de Madrid early in his career.

During his football career, Fortune won three English Premiership titles with United, as well as an FA Cup champion medal.

He was international 46 times with South Africa and participated in the 1998 and 2002 World Cups, as well as the 1998 African Cup of Nations.

Following his playing career, Fortune trained in Cardiff City in 2014 before joining the ranks of United coaches.
