  • South Africa has had a total of 639,362 confirmed cases of Covid-19, with 15,004 deaths.
  • With 566,555 recoveries, the country’s recovery rate is 88.6%.
  • The total number of tests performed in South Africa to date is 3,808,949, with 8,759 new tests performed since the last report.

South Africa passed the 15,000 death mark from Covid-19 with 115 new deaths, bringing the total to 15,004.

Deaths have been reported in the following provinces: 25 in KwaZulu-Natal, five in Gauteng, 12 in the Eastern Cape, seven in the Free State, 10 in the Northwest, 13 in the Western Cape, and 43 in Limpopo.

“We extend our condolences to the loved ones of the deceased and we thank the health workers who treated the deceased patients,” Health Minister Zweli Mkhize said Monday night.

A cumulative total of 639,362 confirmed Covid-19 cases has been recorded in South Africa, with 566,555 recoveries, translating into a recovery rate of 88.6%.

The total number of tests performed in South Africa to date is 3,808,949, with 8,759 new tests performed since the last report.

Globally, the recovery rate is 67%. At the time of publication, nearly 27.3 million people worldwide contracted the virus, resulting in nearly 900,000 deaths.

South Africa now ranks seventh in the world in terms of registered cases, behind the United States, India, Brazil, Russia, Peru and Colombia.

The United States has recorded more than 6.3 million positive cases and a death toll of nearly 190,000.
