JOHANNESBURG – Former Eskom board chair Zola Tsotsi said on the eve of a scheduled board meeting he received a phone call from former chairman Jacob Zuma telling him the meeting should be postponed.
Tsotsi is back on the state capture commission where former CEO Tshediso Matona said Monday that Tsotsi was the one who informed him that he had been suspended.
Tsotsi said Zuma told him to wait for a call postponing the meeting and then received that call.
Supreme Court Vice President Raymond Zondo asked Tsotsi if he was investigating Zuma for an explanation as to why the meeting would be postponed.
“He’s calling you and saying that the board meeting shouldn’t take place. But, it’s none of his business, it’s the board’s business that will be discussed. Wasn’t that strange?” Zondo asked.
“It was strange, President,” Tsotsi admitted.
