Former Clever Boys central defender is not committing to his future and says he’s just chilling out at home

Former Bidvest Wits defender and captain Thulani Hlatshwayo has declined to comment on the conversation about possibly joining the Orlando Pirates, instead saying he is chilling out at home.

‘Tyson’ has been strongly linked to a move towards the Buccaneers for a while and media reports suggest that Bafana captain Bafana has already struck a deal with coach Josef Zinnbauer’s troops.

Furthermore, the Soweto-born defender revealed how he pushed his teammates to finish fourth in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) table despite knowing that the club had been sold to Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM).

“I prefer not to comment at the moment because I am at home relaxing with the family, so that is what I prefer to do,” Hlatshwayo told the South African Association of Football Journalists.

Meanwhile, news of the club’s sale emerged during the coronavirus pandemic forced hiatus, but the former Clever Boys player shared how they fought for their integrity.

“He [Gavin Hunt] He is a coach who has a lot of character and toughness, is difficult to impress and made sure to always push the boys to the limit, ”he added.

“As a captain with the same heart, my job was to put pressure on the guys and make sure we finished as high as possible.

“Knowing that the team would no longer exist, it’s easy for us to have been slow and played just to play, but all we did was make sure we gave back what the game has done for each of us and make sure that we said goodbye to a good way “.

Right after the five-month hiatus, the four-time PSL-winning coach and his men met the Mamelodi Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup in the semi-finals, but failed to reach the final, losing 3-2 that day.

“We would have liked to be in the final of the Nedbank Cup and win all the trophies,” he continued.

“And for me personally to be able to win each and every one of the trophies available for the team that has been good for me.”

The lanky defender joined the Ajax Cape Town Students in 2014 and led the club to league glory in the 2016/17 season, claiming the Telkom Knockout Cup trophy the following season.
