Frank Lampard admits he felt embarrassed after his sideline fight with Jurgen Klopp last season and is keen to make amends with the Liverpool manager the next time they meet.

The pair clashed at Anfield during Liverpool’s 5-3 win over Chelsea in July, with Lampard telling Klopp and his assistant Pep Lijnders to ‘screw’ each other after an argument over a foul in preparation for Trent. Alexander. Arnold’s free kick.

Lampard has revealed that he found out about the video after a friend sent him the images.

And the Chelsea manager admits that he should set a better example for Chelsea fans and his own daughters.

When asked if he regretted the confrontation on The High Performance Podcast with Jake Humphrey and Professor Damian Hughes, Lampard replied, ‘Yes, I was sorry.

And when that broke the next day, I clearly felt it while doing it, but when it broke the next day and a friend sent it to me in the morning, I felt a little embarrassed.

“ Because I was in the moment, but in the moment, I felt like we showed up and it was the easiest day for Liverpool.

‘They won the league, they raised goals at the beginning of the game. And some things happened with the bench, I will not go into details, but my feeling was that I want to protect my club.

And I had no problem with the Liverpool celebration. Fortunately, I have been there. I was with Chelsea, where we won the league pretty early one year, and you can sit there and it all feels great.

‘My feeling was, I want to be where they are.

‘I definitely didn’t want to disrespect Jurgen Klopp, because I have great admiration for them. But what I felt had happened, it was an impulse reaction, which I will happily do, when I see it, I will correct it.

But I also worry about my work, and it went wrong.

And I even explained it to my daughters when I got home. And I’ll be brutally honest, it’s not the first time you’ve heard it from me at the wrong time.

So I try to practice what I preach, but I guess in adult life it doesn’t always work that way.

But yes it was, and not just my own daughters, because you have millions of Chelsea fans all over the world, whether you are young or old, it is not the way I like to behave.

“But when talking about a high-level sport, you cannot take away the passion of the game. And it just came out of me in a little bang there. ‘
