Arsenal’s outcast could be in line to start against Fulham

The Sun say Mikel Arteta has given Mesut Ozil a lifeline and that the German could appear in Arsenal’s first game of the season against Fulham.

The former Real Madrid player was excluded from Arsenal’s first team when he returned to the Premier League in June.

He did not play games for the Gunners as they won the FA Cup and was also not called up for their Community Shield match against Liverpool, with the Gunners winning the trophy.

However, the German was called up for Arsenal’s final preseason game against Aston Villa.

They lost the game 3-2, but he played for the first time in about half a year and that has now put him back in the first team image.

The report ensures that Mikel Arteta has already opened the door for him to regain his place in the first team.

This is because he is resigned to having the German in the Emirates for the next campaign.

Ozil has made it clear that he will see the rest of his current contract at Emirates and Arsenal will now have to make it useful to them instead of allowing him to sit back and collect his salary.

Their £ 350,000 a week salary is a significant part of the club’s overall payroll and they remain open to selling it if a suitor shows up.
