Former personal attorney for US President Donald Trump, Michael Cohen, has published a new book in which he alleges that Trump ridiculed black world leaders, including the late former president of South Africa, Nelson Mandela.
The Washington Post reported over the weekend that in Unfair: a memory, Cohen alleged that Trump described Mandela as a poor leader
In the book that says it all, Cohen alleged that after Mandela’s death in 2013, Trump said he did not believe that Mandela “was a real leader, not the type that he respected.”
Cohen alleged that Trump praised SA’s apartheid-era government and said: “Mandela screwed up the whole country. Now it’s like ** thole. Fuck Mandela. He was not a leader. “
Trump also allegedly said that all countries led by black presidents are “idiots.”
“Tell me a country run by a black person who is not such an idiot. They’re all fucking complete toilets, ”he is reported to have said.
Cohen’s book is scheduled to be published Tuesday by Skyhorse Publishing.
In response to the claims, White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany attacked Cohen’s credibility.
“Michael Cohen is a disgraced criminal and disbarred attorney who lied to Congress. He has lost all credibility and it is not surprising to see his latest attempt to profit from the lies, “said McEnany.
In 2013, the US president called South Africa a “crime-ridden disaster waiting to explode.” In 2015, Trump commented that SA was “very dangerous.”
