Online Users Call For KFC To Drop After ‘Family Feud’ Tweet Goes Viral

These days, it’s very easy for big brands to find themselves on the wrong side of the cancellation culture.

Thanks to the popularity of social media, nothing goes unnoticed or heard. One wrong move and they are told they must be held accountable for their actions.

Clicks learned this the hard way last week and is still grappling with the fallout from an online marketing campaign for TRESemmé. Consumers and the EFF are calling for the store to be boycotted.

Now KFC finds itself in the same position after the fried chicken restaurant chain tweeted, “When you can’t decide on one color, then you wear them all,” with a photo of one of the contestant families participating in the e.tv show. “Family Feud South Africa”.

Presented by Steve Harvey, two families compete to name the most popular answers to the survey questions collected to win money and prizes.

The program has proven popular with local audiences, with KFC SA being the official sponsor.

So, as a way to promote the show, the restaurant frequently tweets about it on its various social media channels.

But Sunday night’s attempt at humor was not well received by his more than 240,000 Twitter followers.

Many objected to the offending tweet. Followers of social media mentioned the fact that the Tsonga culture is known for its colorful and traditional clothing. Hence the variety of colorful garments that the contestants wear.

Others felt that the people on Twitter were being hypersensitive.

Soon, the hashtag #KFCmustfall started trending.

In response to the protest, KFC deleted the tweet. They replaced it with another tweet.
