Meghan Markle has in many ways reminded the world of the late Princess Diana for the many ways she defied the royal family.
However, if the Princess of Wales had been alive today, her butler, Paul Burrell, believes that she would not have gotten along with her younger daughter-in-law.
Burrell claimed that the Duchess of Sussex is quite similar in nature to Diana and that if they had met, they would have instantly “collided” over opposing views.
“I think possibly they would have clashed,” Paul said in an interview with Near magazine.
“I imagine it would have been two strong, independent women with different points of view on things; it would have been a battle between Meghan’s style and Diana’s,” she continued.
He further stated that Prince Harry was deeply attracted to Meghan due to the similar characteristics he shared with his late mother.
“Harry sought out and married Meghan because she is like Diana. Both women who would always stand up for what they believe in and would not be easy prey,” Paul said.
However, he claimed that their comparable features are what would have caused them to crash. Bringing out the biography of the late princess published in 1993 Diana: her true storyPaul said: “I think the main difference between them is that Meghan has a game plan, while Diana was young and naive.”
“Diana made the book with Andrew Morton and wooed the press over the years because she had no voice.”
“And his assertiveness meant that he cared and felt that the people of the country had a right to know what had happened behind closed doors,” he said.
“In the next few years, we’ll see her on the red carpets, with first-rate friends, maybe in movies. Diana wasn’t like that, she wasn’t interested in self-promotion,” he added.
