Eskom will implement stage 1 and stage 2 load shedding on Mondays and Tuesdays.

The energy company reduced load shedding to stage 1 at 12:00 on Sunday (September 6) and plans to implement stage 1 and stage 2 load shedding between 08:00 and 22:00 for the next two days.

“Starting at noon today, Eskom reduced the load shedding to stage 1, which will last until 10pm tonight,” Eskom said.

“Tomorrow the load shedding of stage 1 will resume at 08:00 and will last until 16:00. Tomorrow, the load shedding of stage 1 will resume at 08:00 and will last until 16:00. Then it will climb to stage 2 until 22:00.

“This pattern will be repeated on Tuesday, with a high probability also for Wednesday,” said the utility.

Eskom said it would continue to communicate in time if there were any changes, as the system remains unreliable and vulnerable.

He added that this weekend a load shedding was necessary to replenish the emergency generation reserves, which were depleted during the past week.

“Eskom teams are working around the clock to get as many of these generating units back into service as possible,” he said.

“We urge the people of South Africa to help reduce electricity use to help Eskom reduce the instance of loss of charge,” said Eskom.
