Police have made a breakthrough in the murder of a pregnant teacher in July, with the arrest of a woman and a man from KwaZulu-Natal this week.
Hlengiwe Ndaba’s body was found in a burned-out vehicle in July, police spokesman Capt. Nqobile Gwala said Sunday.
“It is alleged that on July 23, 2020 at 07:30, a burned bakkie with human remains was found in the Winterton area. The body was burned beyond recognition and the vehicle had bullet holes in it,” he said.

An autopsy revealed that the remains were of an eight-month pregnant woman. She was identified as Ndaba, 35, by DNA analysis.
Ndaba had been a teacher at a school in Amangwe at the time.
“The Winterton SAPS investigation team followed all possible leads to solve the case and catch all the suspects involved. On September 1, 2020 [Tuesday]They made a breakthrough when a 37-year-old woman was arrested in the Estcourt area for murder, “Gwala said.
On Thursday, a 46-year-old man was arrested in the Emmaus area in connection with the case.
The woman appeared in Weenen Magistrates Court on Friday and the man was expected to appear in court on Monday.
