Mercedes F1 hilariously trolls Sebastian Vettel after Ferrari fiasco at Monza

Earlier this week, the Mercedes team confessed that they were fans of Sebastian Vettel. Recently, they did it again, but this time they revealed that the German driver is also a Mercedes fan. This is actually a pun on a statement that Vettel made in the 2016 Canadian Grand Prix.

At the time, the German driver joked that they were all Ferrari fans, even if they denied it. Last weekend, during the Belgian Grand Prix, the Mercedes team tweeted a video of Valtteri Bottas braking at the La Source hairpin.

When he rounded the curve, his Mercedes W11 had an oversteer click, although he managed to catch it. The team tweeted about the little mishap and tweaked one of Vettel’s most famous lines.

What prompted Mercedes to praise Sebastian Vettel?

After quoting Vettel’s “racing or ping pong” radio message, a fan asked Mercedes if they were Vettel fans. The German team confirmed that they were fans of the German.

In the recent qualifying session for the Italian Grand Prix, Mercedes posted a photo of Sebastian Vettel looking at his car on the track. From this, they concluded that Vettel was a Mercedes fan, just as they are Vettel fans.

Sadly, poor Vettel didn’t enjoy such a good qualifying session and finished in a humble 17th place. His teammate Charles Leclerc fared no better, only managing to secure 13th place. Meanwhile, the Mercedes duo jumped to another front row block, with Carlos Sainz in third place.

While Saturday may have been grim for Scuderia Ferrari, they will be eager for redemption in Sunday’s race. They will also thank their lucky stars that there are no fans to see them on the track. Knowing how passionate Italian fans are, it would have broken their hearts to see the Ferrari duo fight.
