CAPE TOWN – Hundreds of Capetonians have gathered in the Grand Parade to protest against corruption, farm killings, gender-based violence and the murder of children.

The rally was organized by the Move One Million campaign.

People across Cape Town braved the cold weather on Saturday to raise awareness of violence against women and children and concerns about corruption.

While some waved flags, others held signs that read; ‘Save our children’, ‘We deserve better’ and ‘This is the last straw’.

Jarette Petzer of Move One Million said it is important for organizations and communities to come together and make their voice heard.

“What we defend is the end of corruption. The root of our main problems comes from corruption. If we take care of that, we can tackle many problems. We have to work with our communities in service and that is how we are going to unify the country.” .

SA Women Fight Back’s Bronwyn Litkie said enough was enough.

“We have to defend South Africa. We have seen too much violence in our country. We are fed up and tired of corruption and gender-based violence. There needs to be a change.”
