JOHANNESBURG – Herman Mashaba is a thief. That is the claim of the political organization Party of Action (POA).

The former mayor of Joburg is accused of stealing his logo and appropriating his name when he launched his new party Action SA.

Established in 2018, POA has a membership of around 100,000.

He plans to participate in local elections next year.

But the party is concerned about a case of mistaken identity on the ballot.

“It was very disconcerting when I realized that he had stolen our name and our party logo,” said POA President Billy Nyaku. “PPeople don’t see the difference. “

So has a complaint been filed with the IEC?

“The IEC says that Mashaba has not presented a distinctive party and name symbol,” Nyaku said.

“We are waiting for him to come forward and then we will file a formal complaint against him.”

When asked for a comment, Mashaba says that the claim is ridiculous and that if the party thinks they have a case, they can take it to court.
