A 33-year-old Free State man is alleged to have committed suicide after he allegedly kidnapped and murdered his ex-girlfriend’s 20-month-old daughter.
According to the police, Chepete Mngomezulu allegedly kidnapped Bokamoso Blessing Mpembe from Khorny Mpembe’s home after a dispute on August 30.
“Mother Khorny and Chepete were former lovers and Chepete took the girl when the mother went to seek help from the neighbors after he attacked her,” police spokesman Brigadier Motantsi Makhele alleged on Friday.
Mokhele said Mngomezulu was found hanging from the ceiling in one of the houses on a farm near Vrede, where he worked.
Apparently, Bokamoso was found among the trees, not far from the house where Mngomezulu’s body was found; the cause of her death has not yet been established.
“The police are awaiting the results of the autopsy to determine the exact cause of Bokamoso’s death,” Makhele added.
An investigation file and a murder case had been registered for further investigation.
