RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano has admitted that he is in talks with other clubs about a summer transfer.
The 21-year-old recently won his first call-up for France for the Nations League matches against Sweden and Croatia.
Upamecano has established himself as one of the best young defensive prospects in Europe. That has led to links with United manchester, Arsenal and Real Madrid, among others.
The center-back was particularly impressive when Leipzig reached the semi-finals of the Champions League last season.
But it seemed to leave the market after signing a new contract until 2023 at the end of July.
However, that hasn’t stopped the rumors, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is eager to add the talented defender to his squad.
The head of the Red Devils is a big fan of Upamecano, but Reports suggest that he has yet to convince the club’s board of a deal..
Speaking ahead of France’s game against Sweden on Saturday, Upamecano has revealed that his recent extension with the Bundesliga team did not prevent him from discussing his future with other teams.
“I have extended my contract with Leipzig,” said Upamecano, through a report on objective. “I am the target of several clubs, I talk to clubs, but I have time. We will see what happens in the future “.
Upamecano reveals the secret of his success
Upamecano has risen rapidly since joining Leipzig from sister club Red Bull Salzburg in 2017.
And he recently revealed why he has been able to make a huge impression early in his career.
“The secret of my success? Keep your feet on the ground, without pressure and with determination, ”said the defender. “I have had this determination since I was a child. I want to keep working hard to reach the highest level possible. “
Solskjaer will be hopeful that the work ethic will carry over to Old Trafford, if he can convince the powers that be that a move for Upamecano will pay off.
The Leipzig star will cost United £ 53.7 million if they move now, or just £ 37.4 million next summer. That’s the dilemma facing the club’s decision makers.
