The new Audi Q3 Sportback has officially arrived in South Africa, with the local range comprising two petrol variants at launch.

Based on the standard Q3 body style, but with a coupe-like roofline, the new Q3 Sportback lands at local showrooms in 35 TFSI S tronic and 40 TFSI quattro S tronic form. It was revealed on the world stage in July 2019.

The first is priced at 693,000 rand (some R29 500 more than the standard Q3 35 TFSI S line) and employs the well-known 1.4 TFSI engine from the Volkswagen Group, delivering 110 kW and 250 Nm to the front axle via a six-speed dual-clutch transmission. That’s enough thrust, says the Ingolstadt-based firm, for a sprint from standing still to 100 km / h in 9.3 seconds.

The Q3 Sportback 40 TFSI quattro S line, meanwhile, uses a 2.0 TFSI engine (an engine not currently offered with the standard Q3 body style), producing 132 kW and 320 Nm. 737,000 randThis variant uses a seven-speed, all-wheel drive dual-clutch gearbox, which enables it to reach 100 km / h in 7.8 seconds. Both turbocharged models are covered by the Audi Freeway five-year / 100,000 km plan.

In South Africa, the Győr-built Q3 Sportback will be available in a selection of ten exterior colors, including a new metallic shade called Dew Silver (which is exclusive to the Q3 Sportback). Audi says S-line exterior equipment is standard on both variants, as are 18-inch wheels (though there is the option to upgrade to 19-inch elements). Additionally, the firm offers an optional black styling package.

Inside, you’ll find an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster and Audi’s MMI plus touch radio. The list of options includes Audi virtual cockpit and Audi virtual cockpit plus (the latter as part of the Technology Package). In total, the company offers six option packages for the Q3 Sportback.
