The Estudiantes boss still believes Amakhosi can win the league, but warned that expectations may be too high because they are a great club.
Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt suggests it is very difficult for teams chasing the championship with only a few games to go, but is confident that Kaizer Chiefs can get over the finish line.
Amakhosi continues to lead the standings, although he is tied at 53 points with second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns. Their superior goal difference of +5 is what keeps them at the top of the PSL record.
And Hunt believes the Chiefs have an experienced coach in Ernst Middendorp who knows how to win and has wished him the best in the remaining two games.
“It’s very difficult these last three or four games, but I’m sure [Chiefs] I have enough experience. They have an experienced coach who knows how [to win]. So, let’s see what happens. I wish him the best, “Hunt told the media.
“It’s not easy to win the league, but consistency is very important. We did well against Chiefs.
“When you come to this time of year with three or four games to go, sometimes a point is not bad. People always try to win games, it’s crazy what happens with players, coaches and clubs.”
While Hunt continues to back the Soweto giants for the league title, he feels the pressure is even greater to win the trophy after trying for five years without success, all the more so because expectations are so high.
“The pressure is immense and the club like Kaizer Chiefs that has not won the league for many years the pressure is even greater. It is the club that is expected to win trophies,” Hunt added.
“People always think it’s easy to win titles. Trust me, I’ve been there and it’s very difficult, especially in the last few games.”
The Chiefs must win the remaining two games convincingly to make sure they keep the distance between themselves and the Sundowns.
They will meet Chippa United on Wednesday before visiting Baroka FC in the final game of the season.
However, the two matches will not be easy as both Chippa United and Baroka are fighting for their lives at the bottom of the table.
