JOHANNESBURG – Fewer than 2,000 new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in South Africa in the past 24 hours.
The health department says 1,985 New cases have been identified, with a total of 627,041 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in SA.
Seven provinces reported coronavirus-related deaths in the last 24-hour cycle.

Eight patients died in the Northwest, 24 in the Western Cape, 23 in Limpopo, 20 in Gauteng, 16 in the Free State, 9 in the Northern Cape, and one in KwaZulu-Natal.
The number of tests carried out is 3,693,721 with 18,849 new tests carried out.
The recovery rate remains at 86 percent with just under 72,000 active cases nationwide.
