The Telegraph reports that Arsenal are preparing a new contract for Emiliano Martínez despite interest from other Premier League teams.
The Argentine has become a new hero in the Emirates after helping the Gunners win the FA Cup and Community Shield while in goal.
His performances as a substitute for the injured Bernd Leno have been incredible and he could take on the role of number one in goal at the Emirates.
The South American had stated that he will have to leave Arsenal if he is not given the opportunity to play regularly and it seems that the Gunners want to retain him now.
The report claims that while teams are looking to sign him this summer, the Gunners want to retain him and already plan to offer him a new contract.
Bernd Leno has returned from injury and the German will have expected him to return directly to the first team.
However, Mikel Arteta chose to stay with Martinez in the Community Shield match against Liverpool and that could continue when the league season begins.
Leeds United are looking for a move for him and there are other teams outside of England that could take a chance on him as their number one if Arsenal make him second choice again.
