JOHANNESBURG – Action SA leader Herman Mashaba said that curbing corruption and reforming the police force is high on his new party’s agenda.
South Africans will now have one more option on their next ballot following the launch of Mashaba’s new political party.
In an attempt to overthrow the African National Congress, the former mayor of Johannesburg pressed the support of former members of the Democratic Alliance and the African National Congress itself.
Speaking at Action SA’s virtual launch on Saturday, Mashaba vowed to restore the now-missing scorpions to combat corruption.
“Our police force must be restructured to become a modern crime-fighting machine. We have to eliminate the political interference that paralyzes our police. We need specialized units to tackle priority crimes in South Africa, including the resettlement of the Scorpions. “
Mashaba said that the country’s citizens continue to suffer despite 26 years of democracy, as corruption remains unpunished.
“If you want to see our politicians in jail for corruption or extradite Gupta to South Africa to face charges, then you have found your political home.”
Action SA plans to participate in the national elections, starting with the local government elections next year.
