Queen Elizabeth II leads a fully protected life with security guards surrounding her and keeping a close eye on danger even from inside the palace.
However, there was an instance where an intruder had slipped through a security breach and entered the monarch’s private room, forcing her to leave while still donning her nightgown.
Michael Fagan confessed Sun that he had entered Her Majesty’s room 40 years earlier because he insisted that she help him. She remembered how the queen had demanded to know what he was doing inside her room before she ran off to find safety in July 1982.
This incident has been dubbed the worst royal security breach of the 20th century when Fagan climbed into the palace through an open window, despite strict security measures.
According to Fagan, he had been “depressed” after his wife separated from him.
He told the outlet that he had had the responsibility of raising four children on his own and that he just wanted to know if the Queen could help him deal with his problems.
“I draw the curtains and the woman on the bed sits down and says with an accent like the finest glass, ‘What are you doing here?’ There is the Queen in front of me. I was dumbfounded. I don’t know anyone else who isn’t, ”he recalled.
