With immediate effect, South Africans can buy anything online under Level 4 alert restrictions except cigarettes and alcohol, and actually deliver it to them.
New regulations were released Thursday, now giving consumers access to a range of products that are currently not allowed for sale.
While online retailers previously could and did accept money for non-essential items, they were not allowed to deliver. Now such orders are good to carry.

These are some of the products that you can now order online and receive:
- Jewelry
- Watches
- Bags and purses
- Sunglasses
- T-shirts, flip-flops, and sandals (which have been excluded as part of SA’s strange new Tier 4 dress code)
- Sports equipment (from ping pong balls to treadmills)
- Fragrance
- Piece of furniture
- Portable braais
- Luggage
- Televisions
- Cameras and sound systems.
- Curtains and bLinds
- Home decoration, including glassware and candles.
- Camping equipment
- Photo frames
- Toys
- Video games and consoles
- Bicycles, scooters and skateboards.
- Some kitchen appliances
Under the new regulations, retailers have to give “importance” to products made in South Africa, to bolster local industries that have been suffering from Covid-19.
Retailers must also provide “as many payment options as possible” and help poorer consumers access delivery services.

There are also strict hygiene rules, including that retailers must provide written guidelines for customers on how to safely disinfect their deliveries.
Customers and delivery personnel must keep at least one and a half meters apart.
Retailers must immediately isolate any employee whose temperature is above 37.5 degrees.
