Stormers coach John Dobson confirmed that the team will not feature outgoing Dillyn Leyds, Jamie Roberts and Wilco Louw when a national Vodacom Super Rugby resumes.
Leyds signed a contract with French Top 14 club La Rochelle in March, ending his eight-year association with Western Province rugby. The move was confirmed by Dobson on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, it seems unlikely that veteran center Jamie Roberts will be able to finish his loan period in Cape Town. Roberts had joined the Stormers for a short-term move this season, but returned to Wales before South Africa closed, and has been working with the NHS ever since.

The Stormers will also not be supported by hard-headed Wilco Louw, who earlier this year was officially confirmed to have joined the English Premier League’s Harlequins.
“We have a couple of players going to Europe, who are leaving after the end of Super Rugby on June 30,” Dobson said. ‘I’m sure those guys will still go, so we’ll be without Dillyn Leyds, Wilco Louw, and Jamie [Roberts] It’s already gone. So those rates will not be available for any national competition from July 1. “
Leyds, 27, has been a consistent and valuable member of both the Stormers and all three of the Western Province since returning from a brief stint with the Perth-based Western Force.
As a national tournament is unlikely to take place before June 1, it appears Leyds has already played his last game for the franchise and will unfortunately leave without a proper sendoff.
“He and Wilco Louw are both Springboks and they have both been very good servers to us, especially Dillyn,” Dobson said. Probably has probably been on the system for about 10 years.
Fact The fact that they may have already played their last game for the Stormers is very sad. I wouldn’t mind if they stayed a bit longer so we could play a game and say goodbye, but that’s emotional and less important at this stage. “
